General Membership Requirements

  • All members of the USS Arizona must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • All members must be respectful to each other with a no-tolerance policy related to bullying and conduct disruptive to the group.
  • All members are considered members of SPC Sims and are required to follow all SPC Sims community rules.
  • All members must join the SPC Sims Discord server and accept the community's rules.
  • Communication with Arizona's staff (Game Managers) should occur via Discord in a support ticket created in #support.
    • At times staff may initiate contact or request contact via a private/direct message via the website (nova).

Activity Requirements

  • All members must be part of at least one published post once per calendar month if not actively required for the story's movement.
  • All members must respond to all active joint posts with other members once every seventy-two hours.
  • All members must notify the staff should they cannot fulfill activity requirements. The group knows these notifications as a Leave of Absence (LOA).
    • The crew is encouraged to communicate busy periods or short spurts of leave via Discord to their fellow crew.
    • Notifying the staff of an official LOA can occur via discord in #az-loa or directly to a staff member.
    • LOAs are not requests requiring staff approval; they are just a notification that a member needs to take some time away to coordinate the story.
  • All members are encouraged to take an active part in development of the simulation in the appropriate Discord spaces.

Character Requirements

  • All members will have a primary character that is a member of the Ward Room (Officer's Mess) either in a role held by a Commissioned or Warrant Officer.
  • All members will be allowed to have one additional character that is a member of the Chief's Mess (Goat Locker).
  • All members will be allowed to have additional characters that are enlisted and should make effort to spread them evenly throughout the various departments and divisions.
  • Characters being listed on the nova's manifest will be at the discretion of the GM and should be requested via a ticket on Discord.

Writing In Character

  • All members must be familiar with our database, episode notes, and other information presented by the staff.
    • If you have questions, cannot find the information you need in our resources or are unsure of something, staff are available to assist you.
    • The continuity of our story is the goal of this rule.
  • All characters are subjected to the consequences of their actions in character, and some consequences may be directed by staff.
    • For the story to be interesting not all evolutions undertaken by the crew should be successful.
    • Staff may need to drive specific responses for the story's progression.
    • This is a military-based story failure to follow the rules, direct orders, and other policies would rightfully end in consequences being presented to the character.
  • As we have fewer writers than the crew required to operate a Virginia Class Submarine, members will be expected to write NPCs as necessary for the story.
    • These NPCs need to be mentioned as necessary and do not necessarily require a character profile or to be listed as part of the manifest. They can also be referred to generally as a rank, a rating, or even another sailor.
  • Department Heads, Division Officers, and other players in supervisory roles are responsible for coordinating writing activities within their areas of responsibility with writers in subordinate character roles and the writing of NPCs as necessary.
    • Staff will be available to help with these tasks for department heads, supervisors, and other interested members.
  • An appropriate location and timeline information (date, time) is required for all posts and should coincide with the general storyline regardless of the order published on the website.
    • This allows multiple writers to keep active and not always wait on items holding up our timeline, etc.
  • All members must follow the appropriate limit on adult content while writing.
